Complex III

Description

Complex III or coenzyme Q : cytochrome c - oxidoreductase, sometimes also called the cytochrome bc1 complex is a complex of the electron transfer pathway. It catalyzes the reduction of cytochrome c by oxidation of coenzyme Q (CoQ) and the concomitant pumping of 4 protons from the cathodic (negative) mitochondrial matrix to the anodic (positive) intermembrane space.
