Talk:Permeabilization of plasma membrane

Description

Permeabilization of plasma membrane with optimal digitonin or saponin concentrations yields an effective wash-out of free cytosolic molecules including adenylates, substrates, and cytosolic enzymes. Since the plasma membrane is impermeable to ADP, Cytochrome c, and many other mitochondrial substrates, permeabilization of it gives externally added compounds access to the mitochondria.
