Abstract

Communication and dissemination strategies are in focus. To gain maximum awareness.

Achievements

Project Year 1: One of the first tasks completed for WP5 in year one of the project was the creation of the NextGen-O2k project webpages. We also created and updated a customer-friendly product website. As part of our KOL engagement, we have worked closely with the Q-Module KOLs of the biomedical field to train them and receive feedback on the prototypes. Further strengthening our brand recognition, a communication strategy has been put into place to bring an updated corporate identity with a new look to marketing materials and increased social media presence. In addition to our print and digital presence, the Oroboros Team attended international conferences and hosted O2k-Workshops. To bring awareness to relevant scientific publications in the field, O2k-briefs summarizing key work were published regularly. Finally, in response to COVID-19 we launched a new scientific journal, BEC (Bioenergetics Communications - https://www.bioenergetics-communications.org/).


Project Year 2: During this year we have worked closely with the KOLs. COVID-19 restrictions lead to the development of Virtual O2k-Workshops and the KOLs were the first to test this concept. We also participated at numerous virtual events during the second year, either presenting work and/or hosting a virtual booth. With respect to the PB-Module and its promotion into the algae biotechnology field, a promo video was prepared and showcased at the international AlgaeEurope2020 conference.
The Marketplace website continued to evolve, and a new section was created to highlight the applications, drawing in potential new customers and directing them to the relevant products – making the website more user-friendly with this paradigm shift.
As in year 1, we continued to publish O2k-briefs highlighting research conducted with our products. We also published 3 preprints on data generated by the NextGen-O2k project.

Press conference for the NextGen-O2k project
On 29th July, Oroboros Instruments hosted a press conference for the NextGen-O2k project. For the development of the NextGen-O2k device, Oroboros Instruments received 1.7 Million Euros from the highly competitive Horizon2020 SME Instrument Phase 2 funding program. Out of 1,848 submissions to the funding scheme, Oroboros was one of 67 companies selected and the first Tyrolian company to receive this type of funding. After the launch of the O2k-FluoRespirometer in 2012, Oroboros's focus on continuous innovation led to the development of the new NextGen-O2k, which extends the analytical and diagnostic power of high-resolution respirometry. The all-in-one MultiSensor instrument for in-depth studies of (1) the mitochondrial role in human diseases, and (2) mitochondria and chloroplasts ability in regulating algal growth as well as metabolite production rates, integrates two new modules: (+1) A Q-Module to measure Q-redox states, and (+2) a PB-Module to study PhotoBiology. The goal of the two-year funded NextGen-O2k project, which started the 1st June 2019, is to finalize the development of the new all-in-one device and prepare its market launch in 2021.
